Led by the amazing Ms. Janine, this program will feature fun reading activities, games, and learning adventures designed to keep kids engaged and growing all summer long. 🍎📖 📍 Location: Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms 🍿 Snacks provided daily 🤝 Parent Participation encouraged — come read, play, or just cheer! 🎯 Priority Enrollment: Spots will first go to selected students in grades K-3 — those families have already been contacted. Dear Sivuqaq Families and Friends, We’re excited to invite you to join us this Friday, May 16 at 1:00 PM for our end-of-year Atuq ceremony and celebration at Gambell Schools! 🎓💃 This year’s celebration will be especially meaningful—a film crew from Giant Screen Films will be here to capture the beauty and joy of our traditions. 🎥✨ They are working on a documentary, supported by the National Science Foundation, that will share Indigenous knowledge and celebrate Yupik culture, music, and art. 🧊🎶🎨 The project has land use agreements with Sivuqaq, Inc. and Kukulget, Inc., and filming plans have been developed in partnership with local advisors and producers, including Wallace Ungwiluk and Chris Koonooka. We would love for you to be part of this special moment. NSHC Summer Camp Opportunities! Native Arts June 2 – June 7th This camp focuses on connecting students with Native Arts in meaningful ways. Students will be working with local artists on beading, kuspuk sewing, skin sewing and carving. Students will begin the week with a small sample of each skill then choose a specific art to focus on for the rest of the week. The week will end with an exhibition at the Katirvik Cultural Center in Nome. The materials students produce will be theirs to keep. Hunting and Subsistence Skills June 9- 13th This camp focuses on providing students with all the skills needed to hunt safely and responsibly. Students will spend the first half of the week learning about hunting and firearm safety with experts from Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The rest of the week will be spent learning how to process reindeer. Students will be provided with coolers to return home with meat. (Applications due on May 9th ) Attached you will find the application in a fillable PDF and a word document – They are exactly the same. We only need one per person.
