Good Afternoon Gambell Schools Community:
Unfortunately, due to the number of community spread COVID cases and the school closure, all student travel and home activities are cancelled until further notice per BSSD Superintendent, Dr. Bolen. We will continue to monitor the situation and send out updates as soon as they are available.
Good Afternoon Gambell. I would like to inform the students, staff, and community that Gambell Schools will be on RED status next week 11/1-11/6 due to the current number of community spread COVID cases in the village. Meals and school work packets will be provided beginning Monday from 11:30 am-2 pm. Please only have one person from each family pick-up meals and you must wear a mask.
Good Morning Gambell. In order to mitigate the possible spread of COVID here in the village, the school has decided to move the school carnival to November 24, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. We will also have an early out that day. We will also not be having Open Gym this weekend, and will re-evaluate this next Monday. Our responsibility is and continues to be the safety of the students, staff, and community members and the school administration feels that not having the carnival and open gym is the best way to help prevent the spread of COVID. We will continue to monitor the situation, as we are in communication with Norton Sound Health and the school superintendent, and keep you advised of any and all changes that occur. Thank you for your cooperation.
CARNIVAL UPDATE: DUE TO THE LACK OF RAPID COVID TESTS, the school will request a vaccination card and will do temperature checks at the door. EVERYONE will need to wear a COVID approved mask. Thanks everyone and I apologize for the confusion.
SCHOOL CARNIVAL UPDATE: Gambell School will still have the school carnival from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm, Friday, October 29, 2021. Anyone ages 12 and older will need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours. All staff, students, and community members attending the carnival will need to wear a mask. A costume mask does not count. Gambell School will not have additional masks to provide, so please be sure to have a mask with you.
****UPDATE**** Good Afternoon Gambell Community. There will be open gym. However, masks must be worn by anyone not actively participating on the court. We do NOT have any COVID cases in Gambell at this time. The school is doing everything to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID should we end up with any cases. Thank you for your understanding.
Good Evening:
Due to the number of positive cases of COVID in Savoonga and the possible exposure that some of our community may have had during the tournament, I have decided to close the gym tonight until the school administration can determine the best way to protect the school and community. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I feel that it is in the best interest of the community to keep everyone safe at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
