Good morning Sivuqaq,
We have 4/5 positions for AEC open at the moment. If you would like to fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy and Eligibility then please come in between 8-3:30 this week. We will work closely with AEC in plans for the school and getting necessary community feedback to continue to grow as a school and serve our community as best as possible. Come see Keith if you are interested or just want to know more about how the AEC works to see if you are interested in running.

It's that time of year again! Work starts Monday 8/21 for School Staff, and the first day of school is Monday 8/28. Let's all work on fixing our sleep schedules to get ready for a great year of learning!

Be on the lookout for "What Students Should Know in Reading" Informational sheets during the month of August. Each week we will highlight different grade levels from Kindergarten to 5th Grade.

I want to thank the students, families, community, and staff for an amazing school year full of accomplishments such as state qualifying cross country running, tournament dominating wrestlers, battle of the books teams that almost swept the district competition, science fair/kidwind energy projects that earned awards like most outstanding school and most outstanding teacher in Alaska, our national award in kidwind energy, successful basketball and volleyball seasons including little dribbler championships, great cheerleading, less discipline issues, and better relationships. Our students are truly awesome kids. I am looking forward to next year and can't wait to see what our students accomplish next. Thank you for a great year! -Keith

Last of day School! We are excited and sad at the same time to say goodbye to this school year! We are celebrating with a community meal. Our students eat 11:10-12:30 depending on age. The younger ones eat first and the older ones eat 12-12:30. Come up and get your plate before 12:30. We are excited to see you all here!

Good afternoon! We have Student Awards Assembly Wednesday at 2:30-3:30. We have Activities/Sports Banquet at 6:30 on Thursday. We are then dismissing school at 12:30 on Friday and will be having a community picnic in the gym or outside depending on the weather and a hot dog meal will be provided. It should be a great last week of the school year and we look forward to seeing everyone up here at the school!

PSA:
Please stay away from the windmills and make sure your kids do not go near them. A couple of the blades have broke off due to the winds and there are pieces that are just hanging. AVEC is aware and will get someone out here to get it taken care of as soon as possible. Please stay out of that area!!

No gym tonight, gym is being all set up for graduation tomorrow. Graduation starts at 6pm.

Chili with rice and cornbread fundraiser for Kiera and Katie's KidWind travel to Colorado. $10 a meal. Text or call Scott at 985-2555.

Toys for Tots came in late this year and we passed them out Monday. We will try again on Friday for the students that weren't present on Monday.

We have a new community library at the entrance of the school. Please come take a book home. Reading is the cornerstone of learning and practice makes perfect. Students and adults, feel free to look through our selection. We will get some books for younger grades put in soon. Current ones are mostly MS and HS levels.
