Good morning Sivuqaq! We have more great news to share! For the 2023 Clean Energy Olympics our middle school team of Ty Iworrigan, Wylder Soonagrook, Eddie Lane, and Mya Silook earned 1st Place and earned a spot at Nationals! Our high school team of Katie Apatiki and Keira Duncan also earned 3rd Place at the competition! Congratulations to our teams and also to our coaches, Gladys and Luzviminda!

We have some really exciting news from the State Science Fair awards today! Our school earned the Most Outstanding High School Award, Luzviminda earned the Most Outstandjng Teacher Award, several students earned awards for their projects, one of our teams earned a spot at Nationals through their winning of the Stockholm Award.

Dr. Marcy ONeil from Nome with Last Frontier Eye Care and Tundra Health is here in Gambell through Friday providing eye exams and contact lens fittings to the community in the afternoons and evenings. Please call or text 907-434-1554 to make an appointment.

NYO is in Gambell this year and starts on Thursday! Come out and support your mighty Qughsatkut and show the district what a good host we are!


Yupik Days dinner has been changed to 5:30 followed by atuq and awards in the school gym. Hope to see you all here!

Good luck to our 4 state science fair students! They are getting a lot of praise for their work around the science fair and they haven't even had a chance to present yet!



Make-up school day starts at 9 tomorrow. It is also Yupik Day #2. Elder's breakfast also starts at 9 followed by NYO Games and atuq. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Congratulations to our amazing science fair students! Last week a team of Jariah, Katie, and Kera placed 1st overall in the district science fair, and Kiera placed second! Also in the Health and Medicine Category, Wylder placed first and Ty placed second! Congratulations to everyone that participated and worked so hard to succeed. Congratulations to our coaches Vim and Gladys! They compete this weekend both in person and virtual along with another competition involving making windmills for clean energy. Wish them luck and congratulate them for all of their hard work!

Ceremony to honor the 16 brave National Guard Members from the 1955 Rescue Mission. The ceremony is today, March 28th at 11 am in the school gym. Everyone is invited. C-130 is supposed to land here shortly, weather permitting.

Good Morning: The staff at John Apangalook School would like to express its deepest condolences to the Apassingok family on the loss of Iyaaka. Out of respect for the family and for those staff members wanting to attend the funeral, we will dismiss at 1:30 pm. There will be no after school activities or open gym today.
