🎄 Christmas Pageant Tonight – 6:00 PM 🎄
Families and community members are invited to join us for the Christmas Pageant this evening.
🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Gambell Schools Gymnasium
We hope to see you there.
It’s that time of year again! We’re checking in to see how our school leaders (our Principals) are doing and where we can improve. We really want BSSD to be a place where everyone feels supported, and we can’t do that without hearing from you.
Completing the survey should only take a few minutes. Here is a short guide on how to complete the survey.
📢 Staff: Please take the survey twice. Once from your perspective as a staff member and again as a parent/community member.
📢 Parents: Your insights are highly appreciated! Please take a few moments to share your thoughts through a separate survey focusing on your parental perspective.
📢 Students: Your voice matters! You'll have the opportunity to express your opinions by participating in the survey at school.
This is completely anonymous. We want your honest thoughts, so please feel free to be open with us. Click here to complete the survey. The survey will be open until January 9, 2026.
If you need assistance accessing the survey, don't hesitate to contact a school administrator at your site. Your perspectives play a significant role in our plans for improvement. Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable insights!
Good morning, Sivuqaq!
🐻❄️💙🤍 GAM Wrestling at Regionals! Next up: State! 🤍💙🐻❄️
Qughsatkut Strong. Finishing Strong.
Our Gambell wrestlers showed grit, strength, and true Qughsatkut toughness at the Region I Wrestling Tournament in Utqiagvik this past weekend! 🏆🤼♂️
Despite travel challenges and limited warm-up time, both wrestlers won their opening matches and competed with heart from start to finish. 💪🔥
🥈 Eddie Lane
Eddie battled through tough competition and delivered a dramatic come-from-behind victory, pinning a strong Utqiagvik opponent after trailing early. He pushed both of his remaining matches into the final period, fighting until the last second. Eddie showed endurance, determination, and real growth on the mat. 👊💙🤍
🥇 Donavon Angi
Donavon entered the tournament as the #1 seed and made it count. After a first-round bye, he pinned his opponent from Teller in under 30 seconds ⚡. In the finals, Donavon fought off his back, came from behind on points, and sealed the match with a pin — earning the title of Region I Champion! 🏆💙🤍
Because of his outstanding performance, Donavon Angi is advancing to the Alaska State Wrestling Tournament in Anchorage this weekend! 🏅✈️
He and Coach Bob are flying out today, representing Gambell and the Mighty Qughsatkut on the state stage.
👏💙🤍We wish Donavon the greatest success in Anchorage!
Bring the strength. Bring the heart. Bring GAM pride.💙🤍
GO GAM! 🐻❄️💙🤍

🎃✨⭐ Good morning, Sivuqaq!
Last Friday’s Halloween Carnival was a huge success — thank you to every student, family, and community member who came out to play games, enjoy food, and celebrate together. The gym was full of energy, costumes, and laughter all night long. From the Duck Pond to darts, from the bounce house to bingo, it was wonderful seeing our community come together. 🍬🎯👻
A big thank-you to our staff and volunteers for making the event happen. Your time and hard work brought the whole night to life.
🏆 A Note About Prize Tickets
Because the turnout was so strong, a few families ended the evening with leftover prize tickets they didn’t get a chance to redeem. If you personally still have unused tickets from the Carnival, please reach out to Ms. Brandi or Mr. Zach by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, November 21st, so we can make sure you receive the prizes that were set aside for you. 🎁 Thank you for helping us keep everything fair and orderly.
Thank you again, Sivuqaq, for making the Halloween Carnival such a joyful community night. We appreciate your support, your participation, and the spirit you bring to Gambell Schools. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🧡✨🎪
We’re waking up to fresh snow and a steady wind this morning. School is open, and classes are proceeding as scheduled.
As always, your child’s safety is our highest priority. If you feel the weather conditions make travel a concern for your family and you prefer to keep your child home, the absence will be excused due to weather.
There is some reduced visibility and enough snow to make travel inconvenient at times, but nothing beyond the ordinary. We are not currently under any weather alerts or advisories.
If you decide to keep your child home, please contact the school office in the usual way so we can mark the absence appropriately.
Thank you for your partnership. Please dress your child warmly, and we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
We are expecting deteriorating weather conditions this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for St. Lawrence Island, with heavy snow, winds up to 50 mph, reduced visibility, and the possibility of localized blizzard conditions.
Out of an abundance of caution, if you or your family would like to pick up your child early, students will be excused due to the weather. As always, the safety of our students is our first priority.
Additionally, Open Gym tonight is canceled due to the storm.
Stay safe out there, Sivuqaq!
This past weekend, our Gambell volleyball team played their final game of the season against the Teller Aklaqs. We also celebrated Senior Day for Tristan Campbell, Josephine Ungott, and Jarvis Campbell as they took to the court for their final high-school volleyball match. 🎓🏐
Even though the wins didn’t fall our way, the memories made on the court—every serve, every laugh, every huddle, every moment shared as a team—will stay with our athletes long after the season ends. 💙🤍
We are proud of their heart, effort, and resilience.
Qughsatkut Strong🐻❄️💪 💙🤍
The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning for St. Lawrence Island is in effect until 6:00 AM Thursday. We are expecting 5–10 inches of additional snow and strong wind gusts.
School is open today. As always, the safety of Gambell’s children is our highest priority. If you feel it is safer to keep your child home because of the weather or travel conditions, please let us know — all weather-related absences will be excused.
We are closely monitoring the weather and will communicate any changes as needed.
Stay safe, Sivuqaq. Thank you for your continued support of our school and community.
Gambell Schools will be open today.
We are monitoring the incoming weather systems closely. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for St. Lawrence Island beginning tonight at 9 PM through Wednesday afternoon, with 6–10 inches of snow expected and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Travel may become difficult, and visibility may be reduced at times.
As always, safety comes first. If you are concerned about the weather and feel it is safer to keep your child home, absences will be excused due to the weather.
Please stay safe and take care.

Together, we will honor Gambell’s veterans whose courage and sacrifice have protected our freedoms and strengthened our people. Their stories are part of our shared history, and tomorrow we are humbled to listen as they share their experiences and memories of service. 🇺🇸📜
Following the program, we will close with an Atuq ceremony — a moment of song, remembrance, and unity to honor our veterans and the generations who have carried their spirit forward. 🎶🕊️
Please join us for this special day of gratitude, reflection, and pride. Bring your families, your hearts, and your voices as we stand together — one community, one Sivuqaq, honoring those who served. 🇺🇸
